...it will all find its way...

...find its way in time...

More Job News and More Ranting

Check out rosslyn's excellent entry where she talks all about the HBO documentary Born Rich. I was going to write a diatribe all about it, but it seems that she's taken care of it for me, having summed up my own opinions quite eloquently. So why be redundant? I'll just refer you to her. And as a side note - I love Eddie Izzard (one can never watch Dressed to Kill on HBO too many times) and am sincerely jealous that she was able to see him live. Oh, to be so lucky.

I finally got the official call from the City of San Antonio HR department this afternoon. I go in on Friday for a half-day of processing fun. Among other things, I need to bring with me:

Okay, so I made up part of that. I don't have to bring my own urine sample - the friendly folks at the Police Department will be more than happy to help me with that one. Which is a bit weird, don't you think? You go in to fill out paperwork and make copies of your vital records, and are then escorted to the police station where you pee in a cup. Some new employee orientation.

Note to self: no poppyseed muffins until after orientation.

Anyway, Friday is the day, and then I'll get a start date roughly 7 to 10 days later. Husband is very annoyed that the whole thing is taking so long, but I've been told by trusted individuals (read: mom) that this is not uncommon, and that actually, to be in-processing less than two weeks after an interview is lightning fast. Let's just hope they process my paperwork equally as fast and I get a start date soon. I know my supervisor is anxious to have me start ASAP, as am I. I just hope the city doesn't hold things up.

Before I end, I do feel that I must be honest and confess my sins. In an earlier entry, I said I was not going to watch MTV's Rich Girls Tuesday night. And I did not. But while channel surfing thios afternoon, I ran across it and watched the last fifteen minutes. I admit it - I watched. I watched the two rich girls talk about giving up their virginity on prom night while getting pedicures at Frederic Fekkai, and then taking their dog to pee on a little pad in the ladies room. I even heard what is destined to become a classic gem: "We walk around this damn city like it's our own private shopping center" (or something to that effect - I can't remember it verbatim because I was too busy vomiting). Please - like they would walk. They're too busy spending $300 at a time on limo service. Essentially, I heard enough to support my earlier rant about celebrity worship and plunge myself further into self-pity. Because I currently have $14 in my checking account. Sigh...

I'm good enough, I'm smart enough, and doggone it, people like me. Even if I am broke.
